My profile picture was taken in a good light after a bracing walk along the seafront and I think belies the fact that  I've clocked up a good few years - the last twenty  in Berlin working in broadcasting, helping my husband run our sightseeing tour business and bringing up our two boys.

Now back in the UK, we are on the cusp of exciting new ventures.

This blog represents phase one of my own. After much soul-searching as to what to do I've decided to use my media background to help promote the hand-crafted world of which I'm a life-long admirer.  In particular I've been most impressed with the witty and imaginative artists and craft makers who work with recycled and ethically sourced materials. All too often I see them seated hopefully behind a stall of beautifully made items in a poorly lit hall or freezing to death at an outside venue.

The truth is, we should be shouting about them from the rooftops because they are producing wonderful, desirable objects while treading so lightly on the earth, they're barely leaving a footprint.

So, I am going to do a bit of shouting (from the safety of my laptop... no head for heights!)  by showcasing the individual creators and their fascinating productions right here.  I'd love to think I could help them sell more. I'd also love to think that (in a world where excess and waste is such a problem) I might be able to encourage ever more use of existing or discarded materials.

Phase two of my plan involves setting up craft markets and workshops, again on the recycled theme.

It will be a pleasure to have you join me on this new venture - follow me through Blog Lovin' and please, tell your friends.

I tweet as @loveitback
